Summary[edit]
Description"The Hut" - Bradda Glen - geograph.org.uk - 799386.jpg |
English: "The Hut" - Bradda Glen The former 'Bradda Glen Cafe', always known locally as 'The Hut'. It was built in the mid nineteenth century by the owner of Bellevue Zoo in Manchester as a holiday home. At the height of the tourist boom in the 1950s-60s, the glen was a popular location for visitors to walk to and sit outside at tables sheltered from the sun by large umbrellas where they could enjoy afternoon tea or ice cream while their children played in a small playground amongst the trees. Although you can still walk through the glen the building looks as though it may have been sold privately. |
