North Wales Wildlife Trust
North Wales Wildlife Trust is an independent, grassroots-based organisation working tirelessly to protect our region’s wildlife. Founded in 1963, today we care for 36 nature reserves spread across all six counties of North Wales.
Together, our 6,000+ members, 30+ staff and 500+ volunteers help us improve places for wildlife and strengthen the relationship between people and the natural environment of North Wales. Our ultimate aim is to protect and create resilient ecosystems on land and in the sea.
We are one of five Wildlife Trusts in Wales and 46 in the UK as a whole. Together, as ‘The Wildlife Trusts’, we give wildlife a voice in the UK and devolved parliaments and households across the country.
Using your own outside space for wildlife – whether a large garden or small window box – is a brilliant way of contributing to local conservation. Buying bird food from such responsible sources as Vine House Farm is a crucial part of this, and we’re incredibly grateful for their support.
Funds from Vine House Farm Bird Foods are a crucial source of support for our 36 nature reserves – some of the best examples of semi-natural habitats in the area, providing protection for rare species and places for people to enjoy wildlife.
Cors Goch National Nature Reserve, on Anglesey, is one example of a site to benefit from Vine House Farm and its supporters. This spectacular patchwork of habitats, each with its own unique character and array of wildlife, forms one of Wales’s most diverse, colourful nature reserves: part of an internationally significant network of fens.
With your help, we manage Cors Goch for its special species, including a wide range of amazing orchids, fascinating invertebrates and beautiful birdlife. Given their nationwide decline, yellowhammer is a key species for the reserve – still seen perched on top of the abundant gorse bushes. Funding and expertise from Vine House Farm is helping us give yellowhammers hope for the future.
Its beautiful coastline, snow-topped mountains, heather-covered moorlands, clear streams and Celtic rainforests host everything from resplendent birds of prey, dolphins and oak trees to reclusive dormice, rare orchids and red squirrels.
